I was a parrot for the flamingos’ words

Sent a message to the pigeons

Saw a shiny watch and gave it to a raven

But I forgot I never was a bird

The brainless worm was covered in mud

And danced as it wiggled in my palm

I wondered if it ever had a thought

But wondered if it mattered with its big heart

Cause though animals care, bugs don’t

And beetles build a home in dirt

Butterflies change before our eyes

And fly over ants who can’t see the sky

I see the pinks, greens, and browns on earth

And love the way bugs are so diverse

But people see color with lenses of white

So how could an animal give up its fight
